For this exhibition, she is including a few of the ‘Original’ pieces along with the entire body of work as Limited Edition Prints. It provides the audience with an expansive look at her work over the past two years while she has remained solely focussed on the topic. There are over 40 pieces in this collection, and she will have the most recent additions of ‘Galah’s Playground’ and ‘Spring Clean’ for view.

To take a break from the intensity of size and detail in her primary collection, Maegan has delved into a range of different subjects and created several Original pieces just for this event. They are impressive, non Australian animals and “one-offs”, and in her recognised style of ‘Painting with Fire’.

Her Original Artworks, Limited Edition Prints (both framed and unframed), and her Hand-foiled Greeting Cards will be available for purchase. Eftpos services available.

From 11 am to 3 pm, Maegan will be available to mingle with guests in amongst her conducting brief and interactive demonstrations of how she applies her ‘Painting with Fire’ technique to her drawings.

The Bright Chalet will have the Devonshire Tea available for purchase in their restaurant and the Bar Service will be open.

I'm excited to say that my artwork 'Galah's Playground' was a semi-finalist in the 15th International ARC Salon competition! Congratulations to all the semi-finalists and now finalists!

"You will see flocks of Galahs all around Australia and where I live in North East Victoria is no different. They will fly in pairs but more often will be in amongst a group. I see them up in the gum trees as if it were a family Christmas gathering with all of the kids playing together. It is quite entertaining to see them swinging on branches, ‘hanging on’ by gum leaves and teasing each other while the parents look on then look away. Even as a storm approaches with the wind roaring and the tree branches becoming a wild rodeo - you can imagine them calling ‘let the games begin’!

Wedge-tailed Eagle

A Wedge-tailed Eagle is nothing short of powerful. A stoic symbol of Australian wildlife that commands respect. This particular eagle - ‘Xena’, was found abandoned and emaciated in a field on Kangaroo Island off the mainland of South Australia. Brought in to save her life at almost a year old, she was nursed back to health. Having lost the teachings of her parents at such a critical age, she was deemed un-releasable into the wild. She is now in the care of a professional raptor handler and training in the skies above the Glasshouse Mountains in Queensland. She has become an ambassador for her species through educational and demonstration events.

Scratch That

Koalas are one of my favourite animals to make artworks out of as they always have personality, even when they are sleeping. There is something about them that I’m always drawn to; the laid back attitude, the sleeping, but mostly their confidence in that everything is going to be okay. I love studying them and spending hours, days, and sometimes weeks etching back all the fur details so you could almost pull them off the page and give them a cuddle… after they’ve given that itch a mighty good scratch!

Whistling Kite

The Whistling Kite is one of the most graceful raptors in the skies, if you’re not on it’s menu of course! This hunter is often called “the pirate in the sky” as it’s known to steal other bird’s prey mid-flight. This reminds me of seagulls on the beach when you’re trying to eat chips. Though these scallywags have an interesting reputation, I didn’t realise how incredibly beautiful these birds were until I saw one up close. I am so impressed with the detail of their eyes, feathers, and particularly the scales on their feet!
