Chapter 4

Upcoming Events Banner.jpg

I am so thrilled to be a part of this upcoming annual event at the Morpeth Gallery. I have been working on this latest collection and will be displaying the Original Artworks at the event. I will also be working on a new piece, demonstrating my ‘Painting with Fire’ technique, and will be available to meet and share stories with visitors to the gallery!

I encourage you to attend as I will be working alongside many very well established artists and masters in their field. Hope to see you there!

I will also have a new surprise to offer as I have created a boxed set of very beautiful Greeting Cards based on my Original Artworks. These will be available in the Gallery Shop for the weekend event!

My newest collection features scorch and carbon soot - the varying colours are created by different types of fuel; golds are a result of heat, and the values are created by layering. Essentially everything you see has been touched by fire, there are no colour enhancements.

Art of Negotiation

Introducing: Edwina, the Echidna. I’m assuming it’s a girl since they hang around this area quite a bit, it’s extremely difficult to tell with echidnas by just looking at them, the other option would be Eddy. Either way this pint size ball of spikes is the most adorable thing to watch waddle around and if you’ve never heard an echidna sneeze to get the dirt out of its nose then your life isn’t complete yet! I had the absolute pleasure of watching this one go around the garden digging for Ants and while I was taking photos I was imagining what was going through the Ant's mind...

Vegetate

Inspiration: Koalas seem to have so much more personality than pictures give them credit for! Spend some time at a wildlife sanctuary or ask a wildlife carer, I’m sure they’ll have plenty of stories to tell you. When Koalas finish one of their many meals, all their energy goes into digesting the toxins from the gum leaves, hence why they sleep so much. They seem to sleep in the most uncomfortable looking tree nooks out there but when you’re that full sometimes any place is good enough to be a couch potato and just vegetate.

Eastern Rosella’s Morning Stretch

Inspiration: Sometimes you don’t have to go far to capture something special, the old tree outside my studio window seems to bring all the wildlife to me. This Eastern Rosella landed on a branch and was quite happy grooming himself, “manscaping” rather. He had a big long stretch and must have heard my camera click because I swear he gave me a wink!

Devil’s Kiss

Inspiration: Most people commonly associate the Tasmanian Devil with something scary and dangerous. I feel that it is an unwarranted bias towards a wild animal that is just going about their business. This piece was meant to show the sweeter side to the Tasmanian Devil and uses “Devil’s Kiss” as an antiphrasis to portray a mother kissing her baby.
